Congratulations go out to Sinatra and his new family!

From Charlotte Bevan UK.

Sinatra was born with us in the UK. He should have been born in the USA but his mother was too near foaling to fly.

This meant I was lucky enough to have him to play with for almost three months, from the day he was born he was happy to have me lay on the floor with him and cuddle him ( pictures can be seen on our blog ), in the first few days I lay for hours in the sun stroking his head, legs, and all of his little body, when he did get up he followed me and not his mum .

We have bred a few foals over the years ( all of them are still with us the oldest 17 ) they just become part of the family, saying  to goodbye to him  was one of the hardest things we  have  all done in a long time. We all said when he followed his mum up the ramp of the lorry to leave us we wanted to pull him off and keep him.

This foal is like a puppy, he played with a ball, had a fascination for chasing butterfly , he is so curious about all things, thinking and looking all of the time. He loved to play with all of us, I used to play hide and seek with him, when I said (Boo ) he would gallop off as fast as he could turn on his heals and gallop back to me for more snorting with his tail in the air, this became a great game, at two weeks old he would squeak when he saw us arriving and wait to play,  at the age of two weeks all four feet could be lifted.

All that met him adored him and would spend time just watching him play with us and anything he found lying around, he would make a game out of.

I know it is only too easy to let a foal become to familiar with humans, this does no favors in later life as they will treat you like another horse and try to put you in pecking order, not so with him, he has been taught that if he nips he gets a smack on his little round bottom ,he loves to kiss faces and than thinks noses might be nice to nibble,  the first tap sent him off at a gallop and then to sulk in a corner, hence he knows right from wrong.

Any person that is lucky enough to have him in the family will have hours of joy with this little man, we would hope that his new family will keep us informed as to how he is growing up, or even chat before they buy him, we all miss him very much as he was a very  special young man and we are sure he will grow to be a wonderful gypsy horse .

Update 9/25/09: Our wonderful Gypsy colt Sinatra has now been a approved and is a registered Gypsy Vanner Horse
